Tuensang, October 26 (MExN): Vetao Aye FC entered the semi-finals of the 26th Loyem Memorial Trophy with an emphatic 6-0 win over Foothill United FC at the Loyem Memorial Ground on Friday.
Tingnyeik Konyak scored a hat-trick while Kekhreietuo grabbed a brace as Vetao FC registered their fourth consecutive win at the tournament.
Starting for the first time in the tournament, Tingyeik struck in just the 2nd minute. Kekhreietuo then doubled the lead in the 36th minute with the score reading 2-0 at halftime.
But the floodgates opened right after the whistle blew for the restart. Tingnyeik rifled in a shot from 40 yards a minute into the second half to make it 3-0 and completed his hat-trick in the 76th minute with a sublime finish.
His match winning performance bolstered his team to keep their attack flowing. Kekhreietuo added to the misery of Foothill United by grabbing his second goal three minutes later to make it 5-0. The demolition was completed when Vetao FC winger Muthiu scored in the 85th minute.
The Foothill United players never seemed to find their foothold on the game as they kept making several errors while also failing to capitalize on their opponent’s mistakes. Vetao Aye FC will take on Nyenshen FC in the semifinal on October 30.
