DIMAPUR, JULY 21 (MExN): A major landslide triggered by continuous heavy rainfall has completely blocked a road at Beilikui Ward, Peren Town, disrupting movement and posing a risk to nearby infrastructure.
Following the landslide, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Peren, issued a public advisory urging residents and commuters to remain vigilant and take necessary safety precautions.
The public has been advised not to travel through the affected area until road-clearing operations are completed and to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
Residents have also been cautioned to maintain a safe distance from steep slopes, embankments and other landslide-prone areas, monitor official weather updates and follow instructions issued by the District Administration and other competent authorities.
The advisory further urged residents to ensure the safety of children, elderly persons and persons with disabilities and to promptly report any fresh incidents of landslides, flooding or other emergencies to the nearest administrative office, police station or emergency response team.
The District Administration stated that it was closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary measures to address the situation.
It also appealed to the public to remain calm, cooperate with the authorities and refrain from circulating unverified information on social media.
