Manipur government takes  up containment activities

 With the rising cases of COVID-19 in Manipur, the state government has taken up containment activities, including contact tracing at the quarantine centre where the patients lodged as per existing COVID-19 protocol. The state unit of IDSP (Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme) has also intimated a cross notification with the particulars of the driver to its counter IDSP in Maharashtra, an official source said. Manipur Family Welfare Training Centre, a government quarantine centre where the last two COVID-19 patients lodged, has been declared as containment zone by an order of the Imphal West DC issued late this evening. It was declared as a containment zone in view of the impending threat of COVID-19 pandemic in the area and to prevent spread of the disease, the order of the DC Naorem Prabin Singh stated. Entry and exit of people from the quarantine centre has been banned besides closure of the schools, offices etc. in the area covered by the containment zone as the entire complex and its periphery has been sealed. The authorities have also initiated surveillance of COVID-19 cases in the area and any person/organisation/institution found violating any of the containment measures will attract punishment under section 188 of Indian Penal Code, 1860, the order added. The DC declared the area as containment zone under section 12 of “The Manipur Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020.
