KOHIMA, APRIL 11 (MExN): A meeting to strengthen the implementation of the Elimination of Vertical Transmission of HIV and Syphilis (EVTHS) programme through a Mission Mode approach was held on April 11 in Kohima. The initiative targets pregnant and breastfeeding women across Nagaland. 

The meeting was chaired by Anoop Khinchi, Commissioner & Secretary of Health and Family Welfare and Chairman of the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS). Officials from the Health Department and NSACS participated in the deliberations.
Dr M Nukshisangla Jamir, Joint Director of the Basic Services Division, NSACS, delivered a presentation highlighting the current status and progress of the EVTHS programme in the state.

The discussion covered key focus areas including universal early screening for HIV and syphilis among all pregnant women, timely linkage to care and treatment, enhanced care for HIV and syphilis-exposed infants, integration of stigma-free maternal and child care, capacity building and sensitization of service providers, and promoting data-driven decision-making.
