Mokokchung,December 13 (MExN) : Mellow Club Chuchuyimpang lifted the 32nd Lanur Trophy Chuchuyimpang after defeating Eastern – A team on the final day of the tournament held at Fazl Ali College ground, Chuchuyimpang.
The Lanu Trophy Chuchuyimpang is one of the oldest local trophies in Mokokchung district and the final match was witnessed by the president of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) Moasangba Jamir.
Altogether fourteen football teams participated in the tournament, and the champions Mellow Club Chuchuyimpang walked away with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 and a trophy. The runner-up Eastern – A contended with a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and trophy.
The MDFA president, Moasangba Jamir, while speaking on the closing function of the trophy, lauded the organizers of the torophy for the successful hosting of the 32nd edition of the Lanur Trophy Chuchuyimpang. He also reiterated on discipline and sportsmanship to excel in football and added that discipline, dedication and determination would bring laurels not only to the Ao people but also the whole Nagas through sports.
Besides, the MPFA president also disclosed that the Mokokchung District Football Association would be organising a football clinic in January 2012 and therefore invited aspiring footballers to join the clinic.
Meanwhile the following players were awarded individual prizes in the tournament
1. Best Player-----Moatemsü, United Brothers New Reserve.
2. Highest Goal Scorer --------- Tongpang, Eastern-A.
3. Best Disciplined Team ------ Leplu Brothers.
