Mezo Phetsu & Kikrüma fraternity league meet

Kikrüma (Phek) | March 20 : In one of the rare practices of age old friendship in Nagaland, the Mezo Phetsu of Mezoma village in Kohima District and Kikrüma village of Phek district met here today under the banner “Fraternity League meet” by exchanging Bible, gospel message, mass prayer, interaction and cultural exchange.
Meeting after every 30 years on roster basis, jubilation surfaced both the community once again as they reaffirmed to maintain friendship forever.
While recollecting the age old friendship between the two, they also encouraged one another to prosper in the field of economy, social, education and spiritual.
The fraternity league meet of Kikrüma and Mezo Phetsu have been celebrated every 30 years on roster basis since its origin of mutual friendship which began sometime back in the middle of 18th century.
This league adopted by the wise ancestors was necessitated as a way of giving logistic support to each other’s village in times of need.
Today, the 20th March 2011, after more than 200 years, it was celebrated once again at Kikrüma and the two communities deeply honoured the wisdom of forefathers who stood together in defence of each other’s honour and pride.
2011 meet inked a milestone as the two community solemnly reaffirmed to put “our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as our foundation” and unanimously adopted a resolution to form a Christian Mission Society with its members to be represented from both Kikrüma and Mezo Phetsu.
Reading out the resolution jointly by former minister Thenucho and ex-MLA Asu Keyho, it said the Mission Society will seek to send missionaries to go into the entire world and preach the gospel of salvation to all creation.
Visiting friends/group camps and feast also marked the occasion.Earlier, the mammoth gathering was chaired by Veruda, chairman, Kikrüma Village Council while welcome address was delivered by Sachopra Vero, Director, Youth Resources & Sports.
Thiyiswuyo Kezo, Chakiezo Kehie, Rev. Visakuolie Chüsi, pastor Baptist Church, Mezoma and Dzuthohu Kezo, Pastor, Kikrüma Baptist Church also spoke on the occasion. Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO) president Sovenyi shared greeting message at the cultural programme.
Neiba Kronu, deputy chairman, State Planning Board, K. Therie, ex-minister and several dignitaries including several guests from Angami area, neighboring villages also graced the occasion. The next Fraternity League meet will take place in 2041 at Mezoma
