Nagaland Health & Family Welfare Minister P Paiwang Konyak assured provision of laparoscopic machine, ultrasound machine, ambulance, additional Medical Officer at Chozuba Trauma Centre and other essential healthcare services to strengthen medical infrastructure in District Hospital Phek.
The Minister along with the team of officers from the department concluded the second phase of state wide tour at Phek district on June 26, emphasizing the government’s commitment to strengthening Prime Minister’s vision of a Viksit Nagaland for a Viksit Bharat addressing infrastructural and service gaps.
Led by the minister, secretary H&FW and officials from the department, DC and SP Phek inspected District Hospital Phek district wherein the team reviewed the storage house in CMO’s office, the infrastructure, the service of CMHIS and Ayushman Bharat and other essentials in Phek District Hospital.

Following the inspection, the minister held a meeting at the conference hall, DH Phek in the presence of the Deputy Commissioner, SP Phek, tribal Hohos and village councils.
Addressing the gathering, the minister reiterated that the visit was not a VIP visit but an exercise to review the strength of manpower, infrastructure developments, performance of doctors, availability of equipment, maintenance of OPD timing and OPD load and utilization of funds etc.
As per the requirement of the DH Phek, Paiwang expressed his commitment to fill the gaps by developing the health centres across the state keeping in mind to develop the nation and state by 2047, achieving IPHS and WHO standard.
The minister also gave full authority to the Medical Superintendent of Phek and other district hospitals in consultation with the respective Deputy Commissioners, who is the Chairman of the District Health Society, to judiciously use the revenue generated from the hospital through CMHIS and Ayushman Bharat insurance scheme by engaging specialists thereby the citizens will not be burdened to travel outside seeking health aid. He referred to other districts where the same has been applied as it also ensures that the hospital does not lack any specialist for the needy patients.

On shortage of manpower, he reiterated that the issue will soon be settled with MOs coming in through NPSC and the current MBBS students, studying on Nagaland quota as the students will join the department as per the surety bond on completion of their studies.
The minister however strictly informed that the doctors should perform diligently adding that the department will address these issues.
Paiwang exuded confidence that the DH Phek will excel in the days to come setting an example for the rest of the district's hospitals, also achieving a Viksit Nagaland for a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Meanwhile the minister also paid a quick visit to Chozuba CHC on June 25 June while on his way to Phek district.
Post reviewing the CHC, the minister expressed joy with the management and functioning of the CHC including the trauma centre being managed by a single MO.
However, being concerned with the rise of HIV rate and other related cases, the minister assured to post one MO at CHC Chozuba.
The minister also directed the department to conduct a survey on the reason for the rise of HIV related cases.
