LONGLENG, October 22 (MExN): A two-day Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CM-MOT) surgical camp concluded at the District Hospital, Longleng on Wednesday, successfully performing 44 surgeries and 86 dental procedures for the local population.
The camp, inaugurated on October 21, is a flagship initiative of the Nagaland Government aimed at delivering specialized surgical care to remote communities, stated a press release.
In his address, Dr Tseilhoutuo Rhutso (Dr Ato), the MLA spearheading the initiative, stated that the CM-MOT was launched to bridge the healthcare gap for rural patients who face financial constraints in accessing necessary operations.
“The CM-MOT was conceived to bridge that gap by delivering essential surgical care to Nagaland’s rural and hard-to-reach communities,” Dr Ato said, adding that the project also stands as a “model of unity,” bringing together healthcare professionals from diverse tribes to serve with one spirit.
C Tsalimse Sangtam, EAC, Hq Longleng, in his remarks, expressed appreciation to Dr Ato and his team for providing much-needed surgical services to the people of Longleng district, ensuring that even those in remote areas could access specialized medical care locally.
Delivering the vote of thanks, Y B Angam, President of the Phom Peoples’ Council, lauded Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio for the “innovative and visionary initiative.” He also commended Dr Ato, describing him as “one of Nagaland’s finest surgeons,” who, as both a doctor and a politician, has been effectively reaching out to remote villages.
The camp was conducted by a specialized team from Kohima, led by Dr Ato, and included anesthesiologists, dental and laparoscopic surgeons, supported by OT nurses and technicians.
