Piphema, February 15 (MExN): Modern College successfully concluded Modern Week 2026 on February 14, marking the culmination of a week-long celebration of literature, culture and sports under the theme “Archaic Modern.”
The event commenced on February 10 with a 10K Open Mini Marathon flagged off by Lt. Col. Sanjeev Kumar, Second-in-Command of 78 BN CRPF, Zubza. Runners from across the state participated enthusiastically in the event.
The week-long celebration featured three major segments — Literary Day on February 10, Cultural Day on February 11, and the Sports Meet from February 12 to 14. The programme culminated with a closing ceremony held at the college’s Indoor Stadium.
Literary Day showcased creative talents through story writing, poetry slam, quiz competitions and painting contests, promoting literary and artistic expression among students.
Cultural Day highlighted indigenous traditions with performances of folk songs and dances, traditional fire saw making, go-kart races, war cry presentations and other activities, reflecting the institution’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage.
The Sports Meet witnessed active participation in football, volleyball, basketball, javelin and discus throw, badminton, board games and various track events, demonstrating competitive spirit and sportsmanship among the students.
Rokozetuo Kuotsu, Sports Secretary of MCSU, declared the overall champions. Blue House emerged as the overall champion with 1,520 points, followed by Red House with 1,475 points, Green House with 940 points and Yellow House with 740 points.
The programme also included words of gratitude from Roshan Chettri, Assistant Sports Secretary. The event concluded with the Lord’s Prayer.
Modern College stated that Modern Week 2026 stood as a testament to the dedication of the organisers, the enthusiasm of the participants and the strong team spirit within the institution. The college expressed its commitment to continuing the tradition in the coming years, promoting excellence in academics, culture and sports.
