Mokokchung, June 26 (MExN): The Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) on Friday resolved to adopt tuberculosis (TB) patients across the district to provide nutritional support, with each government department agreeing to adopt a minimum of two patients.
The decision was taken during the monthly DPDB meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting began with a review of the minutes of the previous meeting and discussion on the Action Taken Report.
To facilitate the TB patient support initiative, the board decided that financial contributions from departments will be collected through District Planning Officer N Chuba Phom and handed over to the Medical Department through the DPDB.
The board also approved the registration of three local societies: Society for Economic Elevation and Development (SEED), Changdang Village; MI-Tzü Sustainable and Conservation Society, Alongkima; and Falcon Club, Mangkolemba.
During the meeting, Assistant Commissioner and Nodal Officer for the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA), Dr Madhavi R, gave a presentation on the observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The Executive Engineer, Water Resources Department, presented a PowerPoint on the department's ongoing activities and infrastructure projects.
The board assigned the Rural Development Department to present its departmental activities at the next DPDB meeting.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from the Deputy Commissioner, who expressed gratitude to the board members for their cooperation and financial support towards the district's TB elimination efforts.
