DPDB deliberates on graveyard, dumping site, Vision Mokokchung 2040
Mokokchung, February 19 (MExN): The monthly meeting of Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) was held at Rural Assembly Hall, Ungma village on February 19. The meeting was chaired by Advisor Water Resources & Chairman DPDB, Mokokchung, Tongpang Ozukum.
Basing on the report given by the ADC & Administrator, Mokokchung Municipal Council (MMC) on MMC shopping complex fire incident, the meeting resolved that the report given by the experts from NIT on the condition of the building will be evaluated by a technical committee constituted within the district under the chairmanship of ADC & Administrator MMC.
Also it was resolved that a comprehensive report will be submitted to the Chairman DPDB Mokokchung within two-week time for further course of action, stated a DIPR report.

On the issue of graveyard in Mokokchung, where the present land area is completely used, it was decided that DPDB would pursue the landowners for allotting more land. Further, it was suggested that MMC should come up with a policy so as to cope up with the problem being faced by the citizens of the town for burial.
Regarding the dumping site, which the land owners are allegedly reluctant to continue with allowing their land, the meeting deliberated that citizens should be educated on segregation of waste for it was the concern of all the stakeholders. It was decided that concern department while taking steps to control the damage and pollution of the area, should come up by requesting the land owners/villagers for reconsidering the use of the site.
On the agenda of Vision Mokokchung 2040, it was resolved that members do in-depth study and further deliberation would be held in coming days.
Other highlights of the meeting were PowerPoint presentation on Mega Job Expo 2024, approval of verification committee LADP 2023-2024. The Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung gave report on participation of Mokokchung District in Nagaland Olympic 2024, up-gradation of Tsurangkong PHC to CHC and Registration of Society – Mokokchung Athletics Association was approved and forwarded.
The meeting was attended by NLA Speaker, Sharingain Longkumer; Minister for Rural Development & SIRD, Metsubu Jamir; Advisor Law & Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen; and Advisor IPR and Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L Imchen.
