Mon Red Run promotes HIV, STI awareness among youth

Mon, July 31 (MExN): DISHA Mon organised the Mon District Red Run 2026 under the aegis of the Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) at the Local Ground, Mon, on July 31 to promote awareness on HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Held under the theme, "Every Step Counts Against HIV & STIs," the 10-km run was open to male and female participants between the ages of 17 and 25. The event aimed to encourage healthy lifestyles among young people while spreading awareness on HIV/AIDS and STIs.

Chief Medical Officer, Mon, Dr Supongmenla Walling, who attended as the special guest, congratulated the participants and said "HIV can be prevented and managed with modern medicine," while stressing the need to end the social stigma associated with HIV/AIDS. She later flagged off the race.

The programme was chaired by DISHA District Programme Officer Longyim Tzudir. A total of 87 runners participated in the event. Wangtho C, Manbo Konyak and Longpa Konyak secured the top three positions in the boys' category, while Ngonyun Konyak, Hana Konyak and Leingam Konyak finished first, second and third respectively in the girls' category.
