Soshe and Menevinuo Medoze, Mr and Miss Fresher of Mount Mary College, Chümoukedima.
Chümoukedima, August 23 (MExN): Mount Mary College, Chümoukedima celebrated its 14th Freshers’ Day on August 22 at Yashipokla Memorial Hall, welcoming new students under the theme “A Tale Yet Untold.”
Delivering the exhortation, Dr C Teeya Imsong, Managing Director of the college, encouraged freshers to reflect on the importance of themes in life. He noted that every programme, lecture, and experience carries a theme that can serve as a stimulus for learning and help individuals uncover their own untold stories.
Acknowledging the confidence and boldness of today’s youth, Dr Imsong emphasized that confidence must be backed by knowledge, skills, discipline, and a commitment to continuous learning. He urged students to avoid lethargy and excuses, stressing that the passage of time does not automatically translate into wisdom or knowledge.
Dr Imsong also highlighted the college’s “Earn While You Learn” initiative and its Japanese Language Programme, both designed to equip students with practical skills and expand their career opportunities.
The Mr and Miss Fresher competition was judged by a panel comprising Lovikali Swu, Ayuh W. Konyak, Temsu Sanglir and Viphresul Natso. After several rounds of competition, Soshe was crowned Mr. Fresher and Menevinuo Medoze was named Miss Fresher.
The programme concluded with the College Anthem and a closing prayer.
