Musician Alobo Naga appointed Director of NEZCC Dimapur

Naga singer-songwriter Alobo Naga has been appointed Director of North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur.

Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): Popular Naga singer-songwriter Alobo Naga has been appointed Director of the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, for a three-year term, an official order said on Wednesday.

The appointment follows approval conveyed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, New Delhi, vide letter No. F. No. 2-1/2020-ZCC (Part) dated June 29, 2026, the order issued by the Raj Bhavan said.

The Governor of Nagaland and Chairman, NEZCC, is pleased to appoint Alobo Naga to the post on a short-term contract basis for three years with effect from the date of joining, it said, adding that he will be entitled to pay and allowances admissible to a Director in the Government of India, as approved by the Centre.

The order was issued by Thavaseelan K, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor.

Alobo Naga, born on May 6, 1984, in Kohima, rose to national prominence with his debut album “Road of a Thousand Dreams.” He formed Alobo Naga & The Band in 2010, and the band gained wider recognition the following year with the single “Painted Dreams,” which premiered on VH1 in August 2011. 

The band was subsequently named the winner of the North East India audition for the International Music Competition and Festival held in Montenegro, an event staged at NEZCC’s Shilpgram in Guwahati. 

He went on to release a second album, “Kini,” in 2017, and has since built a media presence as founder and director of Musik-A, also known as the Alobo Naga School of Music, besides hosting a talk show, “The Alobo Naga Show,” since July 2021. He was earlier named Brand Ambassador for the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Nagaland by the Governor in 2015, and later served as the state’s icon for the Election Commission’s SVEEP campaign.
