Dimapur, August 7 (MExN): The Nagaland Athletics Association (NAA), under the aegis of the Athletics Federation of India, commemorated the 4th National Javelin Day on August 7, at Pilgrim Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, in honour of Neeraj Chopra’s historic Gold Medal win at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.
The celebration was marked by a Javelin Throw competition for boys and girls in the U-14 and U-16 age categories. A total of 50 athletes participated in the event, which was organised to encourage young talents and promote athletics in the state.
In the U-14 Boys category, Isuka Awomi secured first place, followed by Tunavi S Zhimomi in second and Ilopu K Khujumi in third. In the U-14 Girls category, Lhingdeihoi Lhingde claimed the top position, while Tilu Pojar and Kensosha Kensosha finished second and third respectively.
In the U-16 Boys category, Atoki Swu emerged as the winner, with Tovi S Chopy and Tsungroshan Kithan taking second and third places. Among U-16 Girls, Afili Yeptho won first place, followed by Veideikim Hangsing in second and Leona P Yeptho in third.
The Nagaland Athletics Association expressed its appreciation to all participating athletes and reiterated its commitment to nurturing sporting talent in the state.
