Naga doctor attends President’s Republic Day ‘At Home’ reception

Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): Dr Keduovinuo Keditsu Chielie, founding member and trustee of the Nagaland-based Dr K&T Keditsu Foundation, attended the President’s Republic Day “At Home” reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi on January 26.

She was among 207 invitees and was the only doctor from Nagaland and the Northeast recognised this year, in the category of Public Health/Community Medicine. 

The annual reception honours individuals selected on the basis of merit, public service and professional distinction, informed a press release received here. 

The first and only MCh (Magister Chirurgiae) surgical oncologist from Nagaland, Dr Chielie is an alumnus of the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and a Cancer Prevention Fellow of the National Cancer Institute, Maryland, USA, it added. 

As per the release, along with her family of doctors, she has been actively involved in community service and outreach programmes, with a special focus on cancer awareness and prevention, women empowerment and education.

Cancer Aid Nagaland, an initiative led by Dr Chielie, has been providing financial assistance of up to Rs 1 lakh to indigenous Naga tribal cancer patients since 2019, it informed. 

Through various initiatives of the Foundation, including free medical camps, cancer screenings and financial support for underprivileged patients, over 12,000 people have benefited to date, it added.
