Nagaland’s Power & Parliamentary Affairs minister KG Kenye today virtually inaugurated 1 MW Ponglefo Small Hydro Electric Project (SHP) at Salomi village in Kiphire district.
In his virtual address from NIC Conference Hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima, he highlighted the abundance of natural resources in the State.
Kenye said that a time has come to focus and concentrate on exploring and tapping the potentials of the state’s natural resources.
All small and mini hydro projects including solar, bio or any kind of clean energy producing avenues will be explored for production and generation of energy in the state, he said.
The minister said that doors will be opened for the international community to invest in the power sector, especially focusing on the sector of production and energy generation.

Meanwhile, Kenye appreciated Nagaland Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio, finance department and other funding agencies in making such project possible.
Er Kasho Chishi, Chief Engineer (T&C) presented a technical report of the project.
Meanwhile, while physically inaugurating Project at Salomi, Advisor Fire and Emergency Services Home Guard Civil Defence Relief and Rehabilitation, S Kiusumew Yimchunger stated that Chief Minister, Dr Rio and Power Minister, Kenye played a pivotal role in making the dream come true.
He acknowledged them for their unwavering commitment in creating revenue generating projects across the state from different projects and schemes.
Speaking on behalf of the Power department, Er N Myingthungo, EE (Generation), Kohima said this achievement not only offers generating power projects, but also the celebration of progress, sustainability and collective efforts.
