BJP legislator Imkong L Imchen today expressed disagreement with the reported decision of the party’s Nagaland unit to undertake a cleanliness drive at church compounds across Nagaland on May 11.
"As a political party, you (BJP) are neither supposed nor expected to make such a decision," he maintained, speaking to media persons on the sideline of the celebration of Moatsü festival in Kohima.
"To me, it is a stupid," added Imchen, who also serves as the Advisor to the Department of Information & Public Relations and Soil & Water Conservation.
"Whether it's the central/state, district leadership, or any other leadership, such decisions should not be made by a political party," he reiterated.
Imchen further asserted that all churches are already clean, adding, "So, the BJP party or any other party should not encroach on their jurisdiction without proper consultation."
He reminded that cleaning someone's house without their consent could result in charges under criminal law.
"Without permission, cleaning the premises would undermine the sanctity of the church," he added.
