Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, who holds the charge of Home and Border Affairs, on Monday assured that the upcoming police recruitment drive will be transparent and free from backdoor appointments.

Speaking to the media in Wokha, Patton stated that the process, conducted through a recruitment committee at the Police Headquarters, will commence on January 7.

“As I have spelled out, transparency will be there, free and fair recruitment will be there. Police Headquarters and the department also will never go for backdoor employment. That I assure you,” he said.

The Director General of Police, Nagaland, Rupin Sharma, IPS said the recruitment process has begun with a public advertisement, ensuring transparency regarding applicants.

“Everybody knows who has applied, who has not applied. And once the test takes place, it will be open for everybody to see who is running, who is not running, who is passing, who is not passing. The same thing will be there for the return.” the DGP said.

He emphasised that this transparency and openness act as the “biggest insurance” for a free and fair recruitment. Sharma also appealed for public cooperation to maintain the integrity of the recruitment.

“We hope that the public will also cooperate to keep it free and fair. They should also not approach anyone to make it unfair. And if anyone is approaching, please let us know,” he added.
