Nagaland Excise seeks public tips to break drug network

Dimapur, June 26 (MExN): Amidst persisting issues and new challenges in the global war on narcotics and in a move to strengthen enforcement in Nagaland, the State Excise department has urged the public to come forward with credible information regarding drug peddlers, even as it marked the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by reaching out to students across Dimapur.

Citizens with credible information can contact the Joint Commissioner of Excise (Narcotic Cell) at 9436077829, Superintendent (Narcotic Cell) at 9862658448, or the office at 6909316927. Tips can also be sent via email to jeexcise.nc-ngl@gov.in.

In a press release, S Phyobemo Kikon, Joint Commissioner of Excise (NC) stated that observing the day under the theme “World Drug problem: Persisting issues, new challenges, innovative responses,” Excise officials visited several schools and colleges in and around the city and hoisted banners to spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse among the youth and society at large.

All ranks and file of the department also participated in a pledge reaffirming their commitment to combating drug abuse and illicit trafficking. The department reiterated its commitment to the fight against drug abuse in the interest of maintaining a safe and healthy society.
