Kohima, August 4 (MExN): The Nagaland Home Department has finalised preparations for the Har Ghar Tiranga 2026 campaign, which will be observed across the state from August 9 to 17, following a review meeting chaired by Home Commissioner Abhijit Sinha.
The meeting, held on July 30, was attended by senior officials from the departments of Art and Culture, Youth Resources and Sports, Information and Public Relations, School Education, Home and the Nagaland Police.
Officials reviewed a communication from the Ministry of Culture outlining activities to be undertaken by state governments under this year's campaign and finalised the allocation of responsibilities among departments.
The Directorate General of Police will lead the Tiranga Rally, a large-scale procession expected to involve students, youth groups, government employees, armed forces personnel and community organisations carrying the National Flag in accordance with the Flag Code.
The Art and Culture Department will curate public displays of the Ministry of Culture's digital exhibition at high-footfall locations, including public squares, bus terminals and transport hubs.
Cycle and e-bike rallies across districts and villages will be coordinated jointly by the Commissioner, Nagaland, and the Rural Development Department.
Administrative heads of departments have been tasked with illuminating and decorating public buildings, bridges, gates and markets with a Tiranga theme, while the Higher and Technical Education and School Education departments will coordinate patriotic artwork and displays featuring quotes from freedom fighters on educational campuses.
The Information and Public Relations Department will lead the media outreach campaign and encourage citizens to upload a "Selfie with Tiranga" on the official campaign portal.
On the logistics front, officials said the state has placed a demand for 1.6 lakh National Flags, each measuring 30 inches by 20 inches, to be procured through the Department of Posts. The flags will be received at a central hub in Dimapur under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner.
The Deputy Commissioners' offices will coordinate district-wise demand, while the Police Headquarters, through the Additional Director General of Police (Administration), will arrange transportation for distribution.
Officials have directed distribution staff to maintain detailed records of flags received and issued. Any undistributed flags are to be returned to the Home Department through the respective Deputy Commissioners after the campaign.
Deputy Commissioners will oversee implementation at the district level in coordination with Municipal Administrators for Urban Local Bodies and Block Development Officers for village-level activities.
