Kohima, August 12 (MExN): Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav highlighted the importance of ensuring the welfare and dignity of senior citizens during his visit to the Good Samaritan Senior Citizen’s Home at Meriema, Kohima, on August 12.
According to a press release from Lok Bhavan Nagaland, during the visit, the Governor interacted with the senior citizens residing at the home and stressed the importance of care, companionship and a supportive environment for the elderly.
He also contributed essential provisions to the home as a gesture of support for the welfare and well-being of its residents.
Chairperson of the Good Samaritan Women Society, Neithonuo Liegise, briefed the Governor on the history of the project and shared the society’s future vision and plans for further development of the old age home. The Governor acknowledged the vision and aspirations of the society and took note of its plans.
The visit was marked by an interaction between the Governor and the residents of the home.
Earlier, Executive Member of the Good Samaritan Women Society Juliana delivered the welcome address, followed by an invocation by Naga Club President Kuolachalie Seyie.
The senior citizens of the home presented a special number during the programme.
