Nagaland hosts NE Zone camp for Duleep Trophy

Kohima, August 24 (MExN): The Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) successfully hosted the North East Zone preparatory camp for the Duleep Trophy 2025-26 from August 18 to 24, marking the second time the Association has organized the camp.

The week-long training was aimed at sharpening the squad ahead of their clash against Central Zone, scheduled from August 28 to 31 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence, Bengaluru.

The Central Zone side features several established Indian cricketers, including Dhruv Jurel, who will lead the team, along with Rajat Patidar, Kuldeep Yadav, Deepak Chahar and Khaleel Ahmed.

The Duleep Trophy, one of India’s premier first-class cricket tournaments, provides a critical platform for domestic players to showcase their skills and catch the attention of national selectors. Zonal teams compete in multi-day matches that continue to play a vital role in strengthening the domestic structure and nurturing emerging talent.

The NCA said hosting the preparatory camp was a reaffirmation of Nagaland’s growing role in the country’s cricket landscape. With the North East Zone team set to face a formidable Central Zone line-up, the upcoming contest will be closely followed by cricket enthusiasts nationwide.
