Kohima, July 6 (MExN): Human skeletal remains of an unidentified woman were recovered from the Dzü River near Zero Point, Chedema, in Kohima district on the evening of July 5, police said on Sunday.
According to the Kohima Police, the remains were retrieved around 5:00 pm during an operation carried out as per established procedures. After conducting the inquest and a post-mortem examination, forensic authorities have determined that the remains belong to a female estimated to be between 25 and 30 years of age.
“All requisite legal formalities have been completed. The skeletal remains are currently secured at the morgue facility of the North Police Station in Kohima,” the police stated in a release issued by the Public Relations Officer.
Authorities are now seeking public assistance to establish the identity of the deceased. Kohima Police has appealed to individuals or families who may have reported a missing person in recent months—particularly in the vicinity of Chedema or the Dzü River—to come forward with any relevant information.
The public has been urged to contact the North Police Station, Kohima, at 7005986018 and provide any details pertaining to a missing person, including the time of disappearance, physical description, or last known location.
Police said the assistance of the public is crucial to help identify the deceased and bring closure to the affected family.
