Nagaland: MP Jamir inspects landslide-hit NH-702A stretch in Zunheboto

Lok Sabha Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) P S Supongmeren Jamir on August 20 inspected the landslide-affected stretch of National Highway-702A at New Colony, Zunheboto, and raised concerns over the deteriorating road condition and safety of affected residents and commuters.

Jamir was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj, Superintendent of Police Dr Kupe Kapfo, and other officials. 

During the visit, he inspected the affected stretch and took stock of the ongoing ground movement and the difficulties faced by residents whose homes and properties have been affected.

Besides discussing the situation with officials, the MP also spoke by phone with an NHIDCL representative, raising concerns over the deteriorating condition of the highway and the safety risks posed to residents and commuters.

Jamir emphasised the need for timely and appropriate measures to address the situation and ensure public safety. The visiting team also recommended installation of proper barricades to prevent any untoward incident in the affected area.

The visit comes amid continuing concerns over worsening ground movement and damage along the NH-702A stretch at New Colony.

According to a reliable source, a Central team from NHIDCL is expected to visit the site soon to assess and inspect the situation.
