ATMA, Wokha, Chukitong Block conducted Field day on Banana, Demonstrations and training on November 27. Concept on field day was given by Zuthunglo, BTT, Convener. Demonstration on cultivation techniques of ginger was conducted by Nzani, ATM. Demonstration on application of neem oil was conducted by Abeni, BTM. Training on cultivation techniques of ginger was given by Zachamo, ATM. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Shanjothung, ATM. Hand sprayers were distributed to the farmers. Altogether 23 farmers attended the programme.

Baptist Theological College (BTC), Pfütsero, observed World AIDS Day through a programme on the theme of the year, ‘Communities Make the Difference’ with Chiniehülü Rhakho, Director, Children and Education Department, CBCC, as the speaker. A competition on original song composition based on the theme ‘Solidarity for the people living with HIV & AIDS’ was held. Anuri Luruo, Dr Akho Dazo, and Zhalie Nienu were the panel of judges. BD 111 won the first prize with their song titled ‘Not Alone’. The second prize went to BD 11 for their song ‘Be the One’, and the third prize was won by BD Orientation for their song titled ‘Stand by you’. (Photo Courtesy: BTC)

The Department of Commerce and Economics of Eastern Christian College (ECC), Dimapur organized a field trip to Cement Corporation of India (CCI) Bokajan Assam on November 29. The purpose of the trip was to give practical life insight to the students on how industries function and contribute towards the growth of the economy. Intensified Mission Indradhanush 2.0 was officially launched in Kiphire District at District Hospital Kiphire on December 2 by District Programme Officer (RCH-UIP), Dr K Pewezo Khalo, in the presence of department District Level Officers, Staffs of both CMO and Medical Superintendent establishment and UNDP along with the beneficiaries.

Intensified Mission Indradhanush 2.0 was launched in Wokha district on December 2. Dr Khelito Zhimomi, District Immunization Officer Wokha informed that immunization is being carried in Bhandari and Wokha Sadar. The focus of IMI 2.0 is to immunize the left out, dropout and resistant children and to achieve the target of 90 percent full immunization, she added. Dr Khelito said that 10 villages in Bhandari block are being targeted as there are no sub-centres and routine immunization cannot be held regularly in these areas. The district target for IMI 2.0 is 128 for children and 29 for pregnant women. ANMs, GNMs, ASHAs and angawadi workers are working actively to achieve the target. Mokokchung DLSA observes World Aids Day on December 1 in collaboration with NMP+, Mokokchung, Tajungla Longkumer, Panel Lawyer was the resource person for the programme. Around 40 beneficiaries attended the programme.

Aiming to improve health and nutrition of mother and child, Mon ADP World Vision India in collaboration with Social Welfare Department (Posha Ahbiyaan) organized a one-day cooking demonstration for health facilitators under World Vision India and Anganwadi workers with Tushimla and Yumah as resource persons on November 29.

In a meeting in its office at Millennium Market, Dimapur Bengali Students Union (DBSU) elected Rajen Roy, the present finance secretary of the union, as the president for the new term. A press release from DBSU stated the meeting was attended by the incumbent President Subham Nath, General Secretary Rajat Ghosh, Vice President Raja Debnath and other officials. The union also discussed other agendas for the term.
