Nagaland: Sechü-Zubza FC is KFL 2018 champ

Sechü-Zubza FC finished top of the 2nd Kohima Football League table to take the championship title. Sechü-Zubza finished the season in style handing a 1-0 defeat to 4th placed Twenty XI FC in the last match of the league at the Kohima Local Ground.  

Only a draw was needed to edge (on goal difference) Ziekiezou SC, to win the league organised by the Kohima Town Club. Ziekiezou were leading with 24 points after 7 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses in 12 outings.  

Sechü-Zubza went into the match against Twenty XI with 7 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws behind them trailing 1 point short of Ziekiezou’s 24. The 1-0 win propelled them to the top 2 points clear of Ziekiezou. Zeneikho Miasalhou scored the all important goal for Sechii-Zubza barely 8 minutes into the game.  

The league champions won Rs. 1 lakh as cash prize alongwith the trophy. The running trophy was sponsored by Mhasimhalie Mathew Yhome, General secretary Northern Angami Youth Organisation (NAYO).  

Runners-up Ziekiezou SC won Rs. 80,000 .  

Pele Khezhie, president, Nagaland Contractors & Suppliers Union (NCSU) was the guest of honour at the valedictory function.
