Lumami, October 29 (MExN): Nagaland University organised a Dedicated One-Day Event (DODE) under Special Campaign 6 across its three campuses on October 28, with activities focusing on cleanliness, waste management, digitalisation and citizen-centric services.
A DIPR update informed that the Special Campaign 6 is a Government of India initiative aimed at reducing pendency in government work, expediting public grievances and appeals, and improving administrative efficiency.
It also focuses on institutionalising cleanliness, decluttering office spaces, disposing of scrap and electronic waste, reviewing and closing old physical files, transitioning to e-office systems and promoting citizen participation.
Activities conducted across the university's three campuses included a lecture on health services offered by the University Health Centre, a Best out of Waste competition, tree plantation, office space enhancement, disposal of e-waste and scrap, and digitisation of inventory management.
At the university's Lumami headquarters, a formal programme was held with Yanrenthung Ezung, Controller of Examinations (CoE), Nagaland University, as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Ezung thanked the participants of the Waste to Wealth competition and the audience for their involvement, stating that the programme focused on two important themes — citizen-centric health awareness and waste to wealth.
He urged students, staff and neighbouring villagers to make optimal use of the health services offered by the university's health centre.
Highlighting cleanliness as one of the key objectives of Special Campaign 6, Ezung said Swachhata was not limited to keeping offices, campuses, hostels and classrooms clean, but also encompassed good governance and dedication to work.
For officers and staff, good governance meant being responsive to the needs of students, teachers, colleagues and citizens, and disposing of matters promptly rather than allowing them to remain pending, he said.
He also encouraged reducing paper consumption and adopting technology wherever possible, noting that scanned copies and emails were often sufficient for official purposes.
The programme was chaired by Zajamo Yanthan, System Administrator, Nagaland University, while the introductory note was delivered by Peter Ki, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Nagaland University.
Nilito I Achumi, Nursing Officer, Nagaland University, delivered a lecture on the health services offered by the University Health Centre to students, staff and residents of neighbouring villages.
Health supplements were distributed to villagers, while prizes were presented to the winners of the Best out of Waste competition. The competition was judged by Dr Lobeno Mozhui, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology, and Dr Vihieno Iralu, Assistant Professor, Centre for Biodiversity Studies, Nagaland University.
The winners were announced in two categories — Nagaland University staff and students, and Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) students.
