MLA and Advisor for Agriculture, Government of Nagaland, Mhathung Yanthan, has expressed concern over the poor condition of roads in Wokha district, including the road leading to Mount Tiyi College.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Mount Tiyi College Autumn Fiesta, Yanthan said he was pleased to attend the event and interact with students. He said the thoughtful questions raised during the interaction session reflected their genuine interest in the development and progress of the district.

On road infrastructure, Yanthan acknowledged the deteriorating condition of the road leading to the college and the difficulties faced by students and faculty members. He said several colony roads across Wokha town, as well as stretches of the National Highway passing through the district, were also in poor condition.

He said the government had been holding discussions with the concerned authorities regarding road repairs and maintenance, including roads under the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).

Yanthan clarified that colony roads fall under the Urban Development Department and assured that he would remind the concerned authorities to look into the issue.

As Chairman of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB), Wokha, he said he would continue to advocate for necessary interventions to address road infrastructure problems and improve connectivity for the public. Emphasising the importance of proper road infrastructure for the district’s development, Yanthan said efforts would continue to ensure that the concerns received due attention from the appropriate authorities.
