Nagas in a transitional period

Of late, as the Nagas pass through a trying transitional period we’ve been hearing and seeing so much about terminations, expulsions, impeachments, accusations, support, loyalty etc. One cannot definitely deny the fact that many of today’s developed and advanced nations or countries also went through similar stages.
We all in our own way wonder as to what must have gone so wrong that the stench of our situation is beyond what we can all bear? If we are to pause for a moment and think we all cannot deny that we have not been honest to our own selves, with our fellowmen, with strangers and also with our God whom we profess to believe in. Leaders in all fields- be it political, social or for that matter even spiritual have cheated and mislead their country men who have respected and looked upon them so much, and every Naga citizen is sick of all these. Look at our offices, our roads and the list goes on. Many times when there is any scheme thats meant to be given to public/professionals of different fields we all know that the truly deserving ones are left out and only those who have political backings (from undergrounds or overgrounds) get, whether they deserve or not. In the offices, if you are not ready to shell out some notes with the head of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi printed on, even the peons or the dealing assistants are not willing to process your files. At the AG’s office (Accountant General) - for processing your pension papers if you’ve not made any agreement for giving certain percentage from your pension benefits with the people in the pension section than your papers are certainly not even looked at (for however many years). My dad and many that I know experienced the same. Developmental projects to be carried out in different towns and areas are siphoned away by the people in power of various levels and thereby leaving dutiful and honest officers sandwiched and towns left as consistently dirty and bare as they are. People with whatever degree they maybe search for Government jobs and once they are given hardly go to their places of posting and with so called mutual understanding with the concerned heads appoint proxy (substitutes) calling a win win situation. In the churches, the Deacons are divided into groups favoring their pastors with the excuse that they’re gonna be in there only for few years. And the national workers of whatever faction fighting over supremacy or for whatever reason best known to them sending out different messages to the peace loving public had caused enough confusion. Especially, many of the younger recruits have failed to realize that since the time of our forefathers Nagas have been giving whatever support they’ve needed and their greediness knows no bounds, their selfish motives have turned away the supportive hearts and attitude of the peace loving Nagas from them. Taxation in the name of their Govt. has gone into building mansions, buying the best cars in the market, but remember this! ‘That a day will come when you’ll have to pay the price for all these, your tears will drain the life from your own lives’.
Every now and then we read in the news papers about ministry of chaplee or regional in- charge chaplee asking the people concerning to whom money should be given or not to be. Just because Nagas from the time of our forefathers decided to live as a sovereign nation and have supported our brothers and sisters in arms does not mean that any organization can keep on directing the people for paying taxes with which many are just making their own lives defiling the names of those who are dedicated for the cause of the nation. And now, to make to matter worse, offices are getting orders from more factions for whatever reasons/taxes. Is this how you are fighting for Independent or sovereign Nagaland? If it is, than time has come for us (Nagas) to rethink whether we can cooperate or not. Many Naga families don’t even cook meat once in a week; many parents for the sake of their children’s future, even eat rice only with salt. For all kinds of taxation the innocent publics are always the victims. When will we be freed from all these menace? The young Naga generation cannot be silent any longer; we shall speak out the truth aloud. We need leaders who fear the Lord, not who are simply religious but people who feel the heartbeat of God. We want to be under God’s government. (The kind of government that God wants to be). This is God’s generation.
