National Games 2022: Rijiju assures Meghalaya of financial help

Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Kiren Rijiju has assured to extend financial help to Meghalaya, which will be hosting the National Games 2022.

The assurance was given to a joint delegation of Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) ministers – AL Hek and Banteidor Lyngdoh – and Congress Shillong MP Vincent H Pala, who met him at the SAI office, New Delhi on Sunday.

During the course of the meeting, Meghalaya Sports minister Banteidor Lyngdoh discussed on the proposed artificial turf in the state of Meghalaya to promote the talent of the state.

Meghalaya Health Minister AL Hek also sought the intervention of the union minister for upgrading and improving the Shillong golf course for the upcoming National Games.

The Union Sports Minister has agreed to help for the sanction for this proposal.

Furthermore, for the upcoming National Games 2022, the state has appointed Project Management Consultant (PMC). 

The strategic planning and the road map towards the National Games are expected to be ready by the end of this month. They also discussed the proposal for funding the stadium in Shillong.
