NE Olympics: 3 medals for Nagaland on Day-I

Dimapur, October 25 (MExN): Nagaland bagged two gold and one silver medals on the first official day of competition at the ongoing 1st North East Olympic Games at Imphal’s Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.  

The first two medals were picked up in the 5000-meter run with Tsuchoi and Songmo winning gold and silver respectively.   Another gold medal by Seluokuolie Kire in Men’s Shot Put later took the state’s total tally to 3 in athletics.  

Meanwhile, according to an early report, Manipur was leading the medal tally on Day-I of the competition with 23 medals, followed by Assam with 12.  

The first edition of NE Olympics Games was inaugurated by the Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on October 24. The Manipur Olympic Association is hosting the 5-day event from October 24-28  

Nagaland’s contingent comprising of 175-athlete and officials are taking part in the games. There are competition in 12 different disciplines including archery, in athletics, badminton, football, judo, shooting, table tennis, weight lifting, taekwondo, karate, boxing and wushu.  

In a re-tweet, the Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio congratulated the medal winner.
