Kohima, March 11 (MExN): The North East Postal Sports Board, headed by its President and Chief Postmaster General, North East Circle, Shillong, Sanjiv Ranjan, initiated a ‘mega sports event’ from March 6-8 in Dimapur.
The event was organised to promote health, camaraderie, and teamwork among employees, fostering a positive work environment and encouraging physical fitness, with the Nagaland Postal Division as the host, stated a press release.
Altogether, 162 postal employees, including 21 women, from Arunachal Pradesh, Agartala (Tripura), Circle Office/DAP Shillong, Dharmanagar (Tripura), Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland participated in the meet.
The event featured competitions in badminton, futsal, and cricket, with matches played at Arena 365 Stadium, Kacharigaon, and Dimapur Government College ground.
The sports meet concluded with an award distribution ceremony at IMC Hall, Dimapur, on March 8.
A Special Cancellation Cachet on International Women’s Day (Nari Shakti) was also released by Ranjan (IPS) on the occasion, which featured a cultural show with presentations from seven postal divisions comprising six states.
As part of the meet, a Dak Community Development Programme (DCDP), aimed at creating financial literacy and awareness, was held at Kashiram Village on March 7.
At the meet, Board President Ranjan motivated the departmental players to perform at their best, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals. He also appreciated the Nagaland Postal Division, headed by Dr Alice K Vizo for successfully conducting the event, the release added.
