DIMAPUR, MARCH 1 (MExN): The Legislature Party of Naga People’s Front (NPF) and the Legislature Parties of Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) comprising the NPF, the BJP and the JD (U) held separate meetings at Hotel Vivor, Kohima at 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM respectively on the 1st March, 2013 to elect their Legislature Party Leaders.
According to a press note issued by NPF Press Secretary, Noke proposed the name of Neiphiu Rio as the Leader of the NPF Legislature Party, which was seconded by Kaito. Neiphiu Rio’s name was approved unanimously by all the 38 NPF Legislators, informed the press note.
The NPF Legislature Party meeting was immediately followed by the DAN Legislature Parties’ Meeting in which P. Paiwang Konyak of the BJP proposed the name of Neiphiu Rio as the Leader of the DAN Legislature Parties which was seconded by B.S. Nganglang of the JD (U).
Both the meetings were chaired by T.R. Zeliang, NPF MLA. Dr. Shurhozelie, President of NPF, K.G. Kenye, Secretary-General, NPF, M. Chuba Ao, State BJP President and Arun Kumar Srivastava, National General Secretary-JD (U) in-charge of Nagaland adorned the meetings as special observers, the press note informed.
It may be mentioned that the incumbent NPF had secured an absolute majority by securing 38 seats in the 59 assembly constituencies that were contested, while its arch rival the Congress party managed to get only 8 seats. 53-Tuensang Sadar- I A/C will go to poll on March 23.
