TOBU, MARCH 27 (MExN): Newman Higher Secondary School (NHSS) in Tobu inaugurated its Annual Sports and Games Meet 2025 on March 27 with a opening ceremony at the school grounds. The three-day event was officially declared open by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tobu, Shaying Sheu, who attended as the special guest.
In his address, Sheu underscored the importance of physical fitness and encouraged students to consider sports as a potential career path. He also urged both students and teachers to strive for academic excellence alongside their athletic pursuits.
Students from the school’s four houses are competing for the Overall Championship title in various team and individual events, including football, volleyball, basketball, kabaddi, kho-kho, and multiple track and field competitions. More than a hundred students are expected to participate.
The opening ceremony featured a prayer dance by Nimang Genevieve and her peers, followed by a welcome song performed by Class 11 students. NHSS Principal Rev. Fr. Kevishi Solomon welcomed attendees, emphasizing the role of sports in fostering discipline and teamwork. The program also included synchronized aerobics, a drill display by junior students, and a grand parade featuring eight contingents representing the four houses.
