Dimapur, May 24 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava carried out an inspection of ongoing electrification works in the Araria–Galgalia section and reviewed redevelopment works at New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway station on May 22.
The General Manager was accompanied by senior officials from the NFR Headquarters and Katihar Division during the inspection, informed a press release from the Railway Zone.
During the visit, Shrivastava inaugurated a newly developed boot laundry facility at Rautara under Katihar Division aimed at improving maintenance and cleaning arrangements for railway staff equipment and operational gear. He also participated in a plantation drive by planting saplings as part of NFR’s green initiatives and commitment towards environmental sustainability.
The General Manager reviewed the progress of electrification works in the Araria–Galgalia section, which are intended to improve operational efficiency, facilitate seamless electric train operations and promote energy-efficient railway infrastructure.
He also conducted a window trailing inspection to assess track conditions, signalling systems, bridges, level crossing gates and passenger amenities along the route.
At New Jalpaiguri station, Shrivastava inspected the ongoing redevelopment works being undertaken under the World Class Station project. The station is being upgraded with modern facilities, improved passenger amenities, state-of-the-art platforms and enhanced circulating areas, the release stated.
He also reviewed redevelopment initiatives under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, which aims to transform NJP into a modern and efficient travel hub.
The General Manager emphasised timely completion of the projects while maintaining quality, safety and operational standards.
He also appreciated the efforts of railway officials and staff towards infrastructure modernisation and ensuring safe and passenger-friendly railway services across the zone, the release added.
