MALIGAON, October 24 (MExN): The 79th Men and 18th Women All India Inter-Railway Boxing Championship 2025 commenced today at the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Boxing Stadium, Maligaon. The four-day event, scheduled from October 24 to 27, is being organized by the Northeast Frontier Railway Sports Association (NFRSA).
The championship was inaugurated by Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of NFR, in the presence of senior railway officials and dignitaries. The event will feature competitive bouts and spirited performances as boxers from across Indian Railways compete for top honours.
A total of 140 boxers, both men and women, along with around 50 board officials, are participating in the championship. The participants represent 14 zones of Indian Railways, namely Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), North Western Railway (NWR), South Eastern Railway (SER), South East Central Railway (SECR), East Coast Railway (ECoR), North Central Railway (NCR), South Central Railway (SCR), Northern Railway (NR), North Eastern Railway (NER), Eastern Railway (ER), Southern Railway (SR), and Central Railway (CR).
According to the organizers, the event serves as an important platform to identify and nurture boxing talent within the Railway fraternity, reflecting Indian Railways’ continued commitment to promoting sports and fitness among its personnel.
