NFR introduces special trains, extends services

Maligaon, April 9 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced additional special trains and extended existing services across key routes to manage increased passenger traffic and improve travel convenience during the ongoing season.

As part of the initiative, NFR has introduced a special train service between New Jalpaiguri and Malda Town. Train No. 05754 (New Jalpaiguri–Malda Town) and Train No. 05753 (Malda Town–New Jalpaiguri) will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays from April 10 to April 30, completing 15 trips in each direction.

The train will pass through stations including Aluabari Road, Kishanganj, Dalkhola, Barsoi, Kumedpur, Harischandrapur, Samsi, Eklakhi and Old Malda, and will be operated with 22 coaches.

To enhance long-distance connectivity, Train No. 04127 (Kanpur Central–Guwahati) will run every Thursday from April 9 to May 14, completing six trips, while the return service, Train No. 04128 (Guwahati–Kanpur Central), will operate every Friday from April 10 to May 15, also completing six trips.

The train will run via major stations such as Prayagraj, Varanasi, Barauni, Katihar, New Jalpaiguri, New Alipurduar, New Bongaigaon, Rangiya and Kamakhya, and will have 16 coaches.

Additionally, Train No. 07046 (Secunderabad–Naharlagun) will run weekly from April 10 to May 22, departing on Fridays, while Train No. 07047 (Naharlagun–Secunderabad) will operate weekly from April 13 to May 25, departing on Mondays. Both services will complete seven trips each and will be operated with 22 coaches.

NFR has also introduced bi-weekly special services between Guwahati and Jalpaiguri Road. Train No. 05698 (Guwahati–Jalpaiguri Road) will run on Thursdays and Sundays from April 9 to April 30, while Train No. 05697 (Jalpaiguri Road–Guwahati) will operate on Fridays and Mondays from April 10 to May 1, completing seven trips in each direction.

Another weekly service, Train No. 05756 (New Jalpaiguri–Balurghat), will run on April 11, 18 and 25, while Train No. 05755 (Balurghat–New Jalpaiguri) will operate on April 12, 19 and 26, completing three trips each way. These trains will also have 22 coaches.

Further, NFR has extended the services of Train No. 04654/04653 (Amritsar–New Jalpaiguri–Amritsar). Train No. 04654 will run from April 8 to April 29 for four additional trips, while Train No. 04653 will operate from April 10 to May 1 for four additional trips.

The railway stated that the composition, timings and stoppages of the extended services will remain unchanged.
