NFR participates in Purvottar Swabhiman Utsav

Guwahati, November 22 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) and Indian Army, under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav organised a mega event at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati on November 21 during Purvottar Swabhiman Utsav.

The Utsav was celebrated to mark the contribution of North-East and its unsung freedom fighters in nation building by felicitating Veer Naris and showcasing the diversified culture of the  regions, informed an NFR release. 

During the Utsav, the Indian Army displayed arms and ammunition while the NFR exhibited models of its mega projects which are being done for overall development of the region, it said. 

Models of Lumding Diesel Loco Shed, New Bongaigaon Workshop, Vistadome Coach with rotating seats, Dhansiri -Zubza railway line under construction between the two major cities of Nagaland - Dimapur and Kohima, New Line Project etc were displayed, it added. 

The NFR also displayed mitigation measures taken to avoid train-elephant collision in elephant corridors like intrusion detection system, installation of honey bee buzzer as well as proposed elevated tracks, ramps, and subways in Kamkahya – Azara section to allow safe passage of wildlife.

Electrification works which were completed and under progress in the North-Eastern region were also highlighted, it added. As a part of the Utsav, many events like cultural show, musical extravaganza, air display etc were also held.
