NFR unloads 1256 rakes of freight trains in January

Guwahati, February 2 (MExN): The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has unloaded 1256 freight carrying trains in January, 2022, an official release informed. 

In addition, a total of 11197 rakes of freight trains were carried by the NFR from April 2021 to January 2022 as against 9361 rakes during the corresponding period of last year, showing an increase of 19.61%, it said. 

In January, good and food itmes such as FCI rice, sugar, salt, edible oil, POL, food grains, fertilizer, cement, stone chips, iron/steel, maize, auto, container and other items were unloaded in different locations within the NFR, added the release from the NFR Chief Public Relations Officer, Sabyasachi De.

In the North-East, 354 rakes were unloaded in Assam; 130 in Tripura; 26 in Nagaland; 12 in Manipur; 6 in Arunachal Pradesh; and 3 in Mizoram. A total of 226 freight rakes in West Bengal and 183 freight rakes in Bihar under the NFR jurisdiction were also unloaded in January. 

Improved terminal handling facility and improvement in mobility due to enhanced maintenance efforts and continuous monitoring at all level resulted in reduction in turnaround time and increased unloading, it added.
