Maligaon, April 30 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has undertaken a series of initiatives to upgrade its medical infrastructure and improve patient care across its network during the financial year 2025–26.
According to a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, advanced medical equipment has been installed at several key railway hospitals. The Divisional Railway Hospital at Katihar has been equipped with a digital X-ray system and a fully automated auto analyser to improve diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. At Rangapara North, a CR system X-ray machine has been commissioned to strengthen diagnostic services.
The Central Hospital at Maligaon has also received multiple upgrades, including the installation of a Lasotronix laser diode, a super inductive physiotherapy system, and a steam steriliser to improve treatment quality and patient outcomes.
The release further informed that infrastructure improvements have been carried out at the Maligaon hospital, with a new post graduate doctors’ hostel and dormitory inaugurated to provide residential facilities for medical professionals. Semi cabins have been renovated, while the female surgical, orthopaedic wards and the burn unit have been upgraded.
In addition, a haemodialysis unit has been established at the Central Hospital, Maligaon under the public-private partnership mode to strengthen critical care services for patients requiring dialysis.
