KOHIMA, MARCH 30 (MExN): A delegation from the Nagaland Gorkha Association (NGA), led by its president Nobin Pradhan, met with Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton on March 28 to discuss concerns over the cut-off year for the Gorkha community in the state.

The NGA representatives highlighted what they described as discrimination in the existing policy, noting that the cut-off year for the Gorkha community is 1940, while for other non-Naga communities, it is 1963.

Patton assured the delegation that he would examine the matter further and instruct the Chief Secretary to present it for discussion in the state cabinet. He also encouraged the NGA to engage with other cabinet ministers to garner wider support for rectifying the disparity and bringing the Gorkha community’s cut-off year in line with that of other non-Naga communities.
