NGBF calls for immediate ceasefire between GoI and NSCN-K

DIMAPUR, APRIL 12 (MExN): The Naga Gaonburahs Federation (NGBF) has appealed to both the Government of India and the NSCN-K (Ang Mai-Mülatonu) to enter into a bilateral ceasefire as a step toward addressing the Indo-Naga-Myanmar political issue in its entirety.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, the NGBF asserted that a lasting and comprehensive solution to the Naga issue cannot be achieved through fragmented or piecemeal approaches. “There cannot be multiple or stage-wise solutions to what is essentially a single and unified political issue. Dividing the Nagas through separate dialogues will only prolong the conflict. The Naga people have already endured decades of bloodshed. It is time to give peace a real chance,” the statement read.

Highlighting its consistent role in advocating for peace and reconciliation, the NGBF urged both parties to show maturity and responsibility in this critical moment. A formal ceasefire agreement, it stated, would be a necessary first step toward the long-term peace and political resolution the Naga people continue to hope for.

Citing sources familiar with the matter, which confirmed that both formal and informal discussions have taken place in recent months between the Government of India and the NSCN-K (Ang Mai-Mülatonu) to explore the groundwork for a possible ceasefire, the NGBF strongly appealed to both sides to finalize the agreement without further delay—not only to bring stability to Naga-inhabited areas, but to ensure lasting peace across the broader Northeast region.
