NHIDCL reviews restoration of Mon-Tizit, MTM roads

Officials inspect a section of the damaged Mon-Tizit Road on August 24.

Mon, August 24 (MExN): NHIDCL Director (Technical)-II U.J. Chamargore, accompanied by the Executive Director (P) and Deputy General Manager (P), inspected the Mon-Tizit Road and MTM Road and reviewed damaged stretches at the Project Management Unit (PMU)-Mon following the extreme weather event of July 19.

The weather event, described as cloudburst-like, severely affected Mon, Longleng and Mokokchung districts, triggering landslides, road cut-offs and road sinks and damaging critical road infrastructure.

During a review with contractors and consultants, Chamargore assessed the damage and ongoing restoration works and directed close coordination among the NHIDCL Regional Office, PMU and district administration.

Immediate restoration, mobilisation of adequate manpower and machinery, and close monitoring of vulnerable stretches were prioritised to restore connectivity and ensure the safety of road users, NHIDCL said.

The field visit reaffirmed NHIDCL's focus on rapid restoration, resilient infrastructure and safe and uninterrupted connectivity in the affected areas.
