NNC/FGN denounces alleged extortionists

Dimapur, June 19 (MExN): The NNC/FGN on Friday distanced itself from three individuals apprehended for allegedly extracting illegal taxes from the public under the guise of Naga nationalism, terming them “pseudo national workers” and “racketeers.”

The group said Senlo Khing, Kitoho H Zhimomi and Tovito Kiba, whose apprehension was reported on Thursday, had no affiliation with the NNC/FGN and were exploiting the ongoing political crisis for personal financial gain.

“These individuals are mere racketeers who, taking advantage of the present political crisis, have turned it into a lucrative enterprise, extracting illegal taxes from the people under the pretext of Naga nationalism,” said in a statement issued by Vepozo Chuzo, Rali Wali Kilonser, NNC/FGN.

It said the three accused had been collecting illegal levies in the Kohima and Dimapur areas and “they do not possess even an iota of knowledge” regarding Naga nationalism, the Yehzabo, or the political aspirations of the Naga people.

The NNC/FGN cautioned the public against encouraging or entertaining such individuals, urging citizens to remain vigilant and distinguish between genuine national workers and “unscrupulous elements.”

It also condemned the growing moral and social decadence, including acts of sexual depravity, calling upon citizens to uphold the values and traditions of the Naga people.
