The stalemate between the Government of Nagaland and the Association of Nagaland Assistant Teachers Grade (ANATG) 2015 batch over service regularisation persisted on February 19, with the agitating members continuing their sit-in protest.
Addressing media personnel at the protest site outside the Directorate of School Education, Core Committee member Thungchanbemo Ezung asserted that all facts and circumstances surrounding the ongoing agitation have been widely placed in the public domain. He informed that a fresh representation was submitted to the Commissioner & Secretary, reiterating their long-standing demands.
According to the representation, the Department of School Education has been consistently maintaining and citing about the Sanctioned post issue. “However, the ANATG members posses PIMS CODE/Employees Code. As such The ANATG also seeks the validation and the credibility of our PIMS CODE/Employees Code,” it stated.
Ezung also informed that the agitators were informed in the afternoon that department officials would be holding a meeting with the All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association (ANSTA) and the signatories of the High-Powered Committee (HPC) Agreement later in the evening.
Despite prolonged delays, Ezung said that the group remains hopeful for a positive response from the government.
When asked whether the protest would continue, Ezung categorically stating that the agitation will not be called off until regularisation is achieved. “We will continue our protest until the government responds positively,” he said.
On the possibility of intensifying the stir, Ezung noted that while no specific date or mode has been finalised, the protest would be escalated if the government’s response remains unsatisfactory. He added that the form and course of any intensification would be collectively decided by the members.
