North East MPs appeal Azad to act on medical seats

Dimapur, August 21 (MExN): Three Lok Sabha Members of Parliament and a Minister of State from the North East today wrote to Minister of Health & Family Welfare seeking his urgent intervention in an issue concerning barring medical students from the NE region by Lady Hardinge Medical College and Moulana Azad Medical College over the pretext of a non-existent “stay order” in Delhi High Court.
Minister of State for Water resources and Minority Affairs and Lok Sabha MPs CM Chang from Nagaland, Ninong Ering from Arunachal Pradesh and CL Ruala from Mizoram issued a copy of a jointly appended letter addressed to Azad today.  The letter highlighted the problems faced by medical students from the North East who were nominated by their respective state governments to the central poll MBBS seats for admission to Lady Hardinge Medical College and Moulana Azad Medical College.
“The students have reported to their respective colleges to complete their admission formalities by they have been informed by the college authorities that their admissions cannot be processed because of some pending writ petition on the matter in Delhi High Court,” the letter from the NE legislators stated.
“However, we have come to know that the honorable High Court has not issued any stay order on the admissions processes. Regular classes have already started since the beginning of August,” the letter said.
The four legislators have requested the Minister of Health & Family Welfare to intervene so that the students may be admitted and join classes as soon as possible.
