North East NSS Festival 2025 concludes in Rüsoma

A five day long North East NSS Festival 2025 under the theme “Viksit Bharat” concluded today at Dzüü Resort, Rüsoma village under Kohima district.

Addressing valedictory function, Anthony Ngullie, Commissioner & Secretary for Youth Resources & Sports, Govt of Nagaland said, “I am convinced that the festival has stood as a great example of youth power, community spirit and a shared vision for a Viksit Bharat- a developed India and self reliant India.

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a public service programme under Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

Ngullie described the NSS festival theme “Viksit Bharat” as befitting “as our Nation strides towards the goal of transforming a developed country by 2047 which is the centenary of our independence.”

The youth energy, innovation and commitment will be the driving force of this transformation towards a developed country, he said.

Lauding the NSS activities from environmental initiatives, social outreach programs and cultural exhibitions to leadership workshops, he said “The movement of young minds and compassionate hearts is what sets the NSS apart from others.”

Stating that NSS volunteers are nation builders, Ngullie said “ Every act of service you offer no matter how small is a step towards building an inclusive, equitable and strong India whether its planting a tree, educating a child, assisting in a health camp or advocating for gender equality.”

Each of these acts contributes towards a Viksit Bharat, Ngullie maintained.

This festival has brought together the diverse and beautiful culture of the North East rich in tradition, talent and resilience.

Your participation reaffirms the spirit of One India Great India where diversity becomes our strength, the commissioner & secretary said.

He also urged the NSS volunteers to carry forward the lessons they learnt, the friendships and commitments they have made here and continue to serve the communities with the same passion and purpose.

Congratulating the organizers, coordinators and the volunteers for making this festival a grand success, Ngullie said “May you continue to inspire and lead and work tirelessly that reflects the values of the NSS and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.”

Winners of North East NSS Festival 2025
In extempore speech competition, Nisha Rai from Sikkim bagged the first position while Luhwang Konyak from Nagaland and Eliyo Awungshi from Manipur stood 2nd and 3rd position respectively.

Poster making: 1st: Karambir (Assam), 2nd- Jopin Riba (Arunachal Pradesh), 3rd- Rukuwe-ü Kanuo (Nagaland).

Slogan: 1st- Somhang Aboh (Arunachal Pradesh), 2nd- Mebalari Nonghum (Meghalaya), 3rd- Jumku Bai (Arunachal Pradesh) and Suparna Roy (Tripura).

Cultural Dance: 1st-Nagaland, 2nd- Arunachal Pradesh, 3rd- Manipur.

Meanwhile, Ruokuovituo Zatsu, State NSS Officer, Nagaland said that 300 NSS volunteers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Tripura and including host Nagaland joined this festival, held from June 10 to 14.

Zatsu thanked Chief Minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio for sponsoring a sightseeing trip for the participants to Cathedral of Kohima, 2nd World War Cemetery, State Museum and Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima and also arranging dinner on June 13.

Further, he thanked each and every individual towards the success of the festival.

The valedictory function was chaired by Langphoang, UDA, NSS Cell while Keneiwetuo Mezhier, youth Counselor, Riisoma CRC invoked God’s blessings.

This festival was organized by NSS Cell under Directorate of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland, in collaboration with Regional Directorate of NSS, Guwahati, and sponsored by Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, GoI.
