A motivational talk from a Biblical perspective organised by the Naga People’s Front (NPF) Central Youth Wing on April 27 at its Central Headquarters in Kohima, highlighted the importance of ethical, service-driven political leadership grounded in unity, integrity and vision.

Addressing the gathering, Rev Apostle Luoliehu Yimsung, a missionary from Nagaland serving in Singapore, Australia and Oceania since 1986, who spoke on “Biblical foundation for Ethical Political Leadership,” highlighted that true leadership goes beyond titles and positions.

True leadership requires courage, responsibility and a clear vision for the future, he stressed.

Effective leaders must inspire others, remain connected to the people, and work collectively to bring meaningful change, he added.

Rev Yimsung pointed out that leadership is not an individual pursuit but a team effort, calling for stronger unity, collaboration and mutual support within organisations.

He noted that empowering members, recognising contributions and creating opportunities for growth are essential for building a strong and effective team.

Emphasising the importance of adaptability and self-motivation, he urged leaders to move beyond comfort zones and actively work towards progress and transformation.

Lasting change begins with individuals who are willing to take initiative and act with sincerity, he underscored.

Highlighting the role of values in leadership, Rev Yimsung asl ocalled for leaders to uphold integrity, humility and accountability in their actions.

He encouraged participants to remain grounded in principles while striving for development and progress.

NPF Senior Vice President Nüzota Swüro, in his address, underlined the need to nurture future political leadership and remain connected to grassroots realities.

He encouraged youth leaders to seek mentorship from experienced elders, adapt to changing times with a global outlook, and leverage digital platforms to stay relevant.

He noted that young leaders must act as agents of change by bringing innovation and fresh perspectives into governance.

MLA and Legislature in-charge of the Central Youth Wing, Imkongmar, meanwhile, highlighted that true leadership is rooted in service, sacrifice and integrity rather than power or position.

He encouraged young political workers to remain close to the people, listen to their concerns, and lead with responsibility.

Outlining key principles of leadership: servant leadership, integrity and vision, the MLA stressed that leaders must think beyond immediate gains and work towards long-term impact.

Delivering the welcome address, NPF Central Youth Wing President Süpoyi Vezhü said the gathering reflected a shared commitment and collective vision to serve the people.

He stressed that politics is not about power but purpose, calling on party members to act as a “force of change” and uphold responsibility towards the people.

Stressing unity and discipline, he urged members to work for collective growth and societal betterment, reminding that leadership is a duty and success lies in improving lives, not merely winning elections.

The event was chaired by Aienla Longchar, CYW general secretary while vice president Kezhavica Vüphrü offered invocation, vote of thanks by CYW working president Lhouvi Punyü and benediction by CYW working president Achamo Kikon. CYW secretary Shenieta Chürha presented a special number.
