The Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) has launched its membership drive on February 19 and formally announced the conduct of the organizational elections.
During a programme held at Congress Bhavan, Kohima, NPYC President, Lima Lemtur said the elections is being conducted as instructed by the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) through the Election Commission of the Youth Congress.
Speaking on the occasion, Lok Sabha MP S Supongmeren Jamir described the enrollment drive as a crucial opportunity for strengthening the Congress party at the grassroots.
Jamir, who is also president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), stressed that proper enrollment must be ensured not only in the capital but across all districts to assess the actual strength of the Youth Congress.
He urged youth office bearers to remain sincere in their outreach and mobilize eligible youths to join the organization.
IYC General Secretary in-charge of Nagaland, Thar Johnny, said the youth wing has opened its doors to all eligible youths in the state to participate in the democratic process and nation-building by joining the Congress.
He informed that youths between 18 and 35 years can enrol and also file nominations to become leaders of Youth Congress in the state.
Pradesh Returning Officer Farnindra Kumar Singh informed that nomination fee payment will be accepted from February 25 to March 7, while the membership and voting period will be held from March 16 to April 16.
Informing that the elections will be conducted through a digital platform, he said applicants must download the “With IYC” mobile application. Officials informed that nomination details, rules and regulations, and the candidate handbook will be made available on the IYC election website.
